On18th May 2020, NYC partnered with Centum, Sidian Bank and Mastercard Foundation through its pilot Ajiry programme, where a total of thirty (30) youth were trained on Zero Contact Distribution, in Kangemi, Dagoretti North Constituency.

Ajiry, is a Progressive Web Application (PWA) designed to provide a platform for entrepreneurial youth to connect and network effortlessly, conveniently and free from the controls of third-part agents with employers. This App allows youth to cast a wider net in their search for job opportunities.

In the training, the attendees were informed of what is required of the beneficiaries before keying in their data on the platform; beneficiaries name, telephone number, National ID numbers, Constituencies and Wards. Additionally, it will be imperative to outline a database of collection points (supermarkets, distribution points and local kiosks) will be required.

The facilitators explained to the trainees how the platform tracks redeemed vouchers in a sequential manner:

The beneficiaries, including households, will:

  1. Receive E-vouchers via SMS

NYC Partnership with Chandaria Industries

Chandaria Ndustries Joins Nyc In Fight Against Pandemic

On 15th April 2020, NYC was honored to host Chandaria Industries at its headquarters, ABSA Towers, in a joint effort to combat the rapid spread of COVID-19. Additionally, the partnership will aim at rebuilding the country’s economy in the wake of the pandemic through the Council’s FURSA programme, in a mission dubbed ‘Vijana Tuepuke Corona’.

Being at the forefront in championing for the youth role in combating the rapid spread of the virus through sensitization campaigns, NYC topped up the donation by purchasing 5,000 masks for the youth to put vigor and energy in the ‘Vijana Tuepuke Corona’ campaign.

To express its solidarity to the youth and the people hit by COVID-19, Chandaria Industries through its Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Darshan Chandaria on behalf of other directors and Chandaria Industries, doubled the efforts the Council has put in place by donating:

  1. 10,000 facemasks valued at Kshs. 1,000,000.
  2. Liquid hand-wash valued at Kshs. 1,000,000 and;

Tissue paper, valued at Kshs. 700,000 to proactively support the country at large and support youth development.

In turn, NYC will be distributing all these donations, on a continuous basis to the youth by making use of various Youth Serving Organizations.

During the donations handover, Dr. Chandaria emphasized on the importance of youth inclusion and sustainability and promised to work closely with NYC not only in the current predicament facing the country but also in future by empowering the youth, creating job opportunities and consequently building their capacity in different fields.

The Council wishes to reaffirm that unity is what the youth need to make a difference. Therefore, NYC urges the youth to continue speaking in one voice and expressing their resolute support by strengthening their efforts in providing solutions to help reduce the spread of the disease and address its socio-economic impact. It is encouraging to see the youth across the continent leading the way in the fight against coronavirus and stepping up to help people within their communities. The Council believes that this modest donation will impact people’s lives positively – one voice, one nation.
